RRU is Radio Remote Unit, and is a kind of RF module placed outdoor at antenna terminal.
RRU itself has a built-in filter unit with duplexer, a low noise amplifier, a power amplifier, a power supply, and a corresponding control circuit, etc. It is a radio remote unit with high transmitting power, and it is designed to help operators focus on network capital expenditures, operating costs and high availability.
RRU supports a large number of deployment configurations and runs in a wide range of environments and temperature conditions, and forms a complete BTS system through CPRI interface unit with the indoor baseband processing module.
Features: compact, lightweight, designed to reduce cable assemblies for high reliability. The hardware architecture provides the flexibility to support multiple frequency bands. Since RRU has little feeder loss, its uplink coverage is greater than the conventional macro base station.
The usage of RRU can solve the mobile communication network coverage from indoor buildings, shopping malls to suburban, rural, railway and highway, can reduce investment and increase the breadth and depth of network coverage to meet the larger network capacity and multiple frequency bands. Since RRU has little feeder loss, its uplink coverage is greater than the conventional macro base station.
